A Statement from the Athens County Library
The Adult Programming Series of the Athens Public Library has chosen to form a partnership with the General Charles H. Grosvenor Civil War Round Table in the interest of promoting public discussion and education on a critical era of American history. We are pleased to host the Round Table’s meetings and special events at our library branch on a monthly basis and believe that it fits into our mission of promoting life-long learning and self-motivated learning. Under our roof, these type of events are made free to the public through the support of our Friends’ Association. Libraries are educational facilities, as well as sources of entertainment, and supporting programs for adult comprehension is part and parcel with our desire to provide the public with free access to works of history, biography and the sciences. We are very pleased with the broad and diverse cross-section of the local populace that the Round Table has already brought through our doors.
